Ridgewood and Sunnyside among best cyclist neighborhoods in NYC: StreetEasy

The Queens neighborhoods of Ridgewood and Sunnyside were included among StreetEasy’s list of the eight best neighborhoods in New York City for cyclists. These neighborhoods’ inclusion on the list is based on a number of factors.

Along with the other areas of the city included on this list, Ridgewood and Sunnyside have multiple CitiBike stations, are in close proximity to greenways and other public natural spaces, have dedicated and safe bike lanes and multiple bike shops for cyclists living in or near these areas to enjoy.

There are multiple CitiBike stations found on Seneca Avenue in Ridgewood, providing residents there with plenty of opportunities to rent a bike and explore the area. The bike trails in Forest Park and around Highland Park’s Ridgewood Reservoir were cited as big contributing factors to Ridgewood’s inclusion on this list. StreetEasy also brought up Joyride Bikes at 70-8 60th St. as one of the shops in the area ideal for getting accessories and repair work.

Queens Boulevard and Northern Boulevard in Sunnyside houses several CitiBike stations. While the area lacks the park biking trails such as those found in Ridgewood, the area is in an ideal spot for cycling daily to other boroughs, whether for work, school or anything else. Despite the fact that Sunnyside doesn’t have as many bike lanes as Ridgewood, the Queensboro Bridge Greenway allows for cyclists to be granted easy access to Manhattan. The Kosciuszko Bridge Walkway and Bike Path does the same for those going to Brooklyn. Tune-ups and parts are also easily accessible at Bill’s Cyclery at 63-24 Roosevelt Ave. or Sunnyside E-Bikes at 4756 47th St.

Those with a keen interest in cycling are sure to feel welcome in Ridgewood or Sunnyside. In addition to these two areas of Queens, StreetEasy’s list also includes two Manhattan neighborhoods, two Brooklyn neighborhoods, a neighborhood in the Bronx and one in Staten Island.
