QUEENS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HONOR 20 TOP CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT ANNUAL GALA;

Gala Honoree/Keynote Speaker is John Banks, REBNY President

QUEENS, NY, November 28, 2018 -- The Queens Chamber of Commerce has announced the twenty winning projects to be honored at its 2018 Annual Building Awards Gala on December 6, 2018 at Terrace on the Park, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens. For over 90 years, the Queens Chamber has honored the architects, builders, engineers, lenders, interior designers and owners of buildings and building projects that keep Queens vibrant, sustainable and livable.

The Queens Chamber of Commerce recognizes the best in new construction and renovation/rehabilitations in residential, commercial and industrial buildings, open or enclosed public spaces, civil projects, sustainable buildings and interior design.

This year's Gala Honoree is John Banks, President of The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), who will be giving the keynote address.

“How we manage our built environment, as well as our public spaces, directly impacts the quality of business and residential life in the borough. By recognizing and encouraging excellence, the Queens Chamber of Commerce is helping to ensure a healthy, sustainable and attractive urban landscape,” said Thomas J. Grech, President and CEO, Queens Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s honoree, John H. Banks, is the President of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), the City’s leading real estate trade association which represents major commercial and residential property owners and builders, brokers and managers, and real estate professionals.

Since his appointment in 2014, REBNY has made significant achievements including advocating for the enactment of the Affordable New York Housing Program (formerly known as 421-a), the approval of the Greater East Midtown Rezoning, as well as fair and important legislation to address critical issues ranging from sustainability and illegal short-term rentals to landmarking.

In 2017, Banks led REBNY’s rollout of Syndication for its Residential Listing Service (RLS). RLS Syndication provides the most accurate, up-to-date residential real estate listing information for consumers and the real estate industry in New York City through a powerful network of publishers.
