A Better Queens is Our Business

High School for Construction Trades, Engineering and Architecture
Ozone Park, New York

An innovative public high school in Ozone Park, Queens, is turning heads in New York’s construction, engineering, and architecture communities. The High School for Construction Trades, Engineering and Architecture (CTEA) offers courses in urban design, civil engineering, electrical installation, carpentry, and mechanical drafting as well as math, history, science and English. The school prepares students not only for college, but for careers in the fields of construction management, engineering, and architecture.

Founded in 2006, 45 CTEA teachers educate 625 students of amazingly diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. Presently, the junior class – soon to be CTEA’s first graduating senior class – is turning to professionals in New York’s construction, engineering, and architecture community to sponsor summer internships.

A CTEA summer internship is only six weeks long, from Tuesday July 7th to Friday August 14th. CTEA summer interns will be paid at a standard rate of $7.15 an hour. We encourage you to support students whose focus aligns with our industry and whose success will provide future leaders in our field. In the spirit of giving back, please forward this to your colleagues who could help our efforts.

“Our CTEA intern was a delight to have in the office. She completed all assigned tasks in a timely manner. She picked up new skills quickly and was interested in participating in a variety of learning opportunities. Her demeanor was always friendly and professional, even though this was her first experience working in an office setting.”
Marjorie R. Schulman, Director of Partnerships and Special Initiatives, NEW, Nontraditional Employment for Women

“Our intern was very good, professional, and proactive in the workplace. She set a good example, being punctual, earnest, and actively seeking out work.”
Sara Schuster, STUDIOS Architecture

“Despite being high school students, our CTEA interns performed outstandingly on all levels. They were motivated, extremely helpful and eager to learn.”
Amanda Lopez, Forest City Ratner
